In Northern Italy, the Piedmont region is noted for its extraordinary wine producing ability. There you will find a quaint wine village named Gavi. Dave and Mary Gromelski's love of Gavi wines, Italian food, and old world charm has resulted in a wonderful addition to fine dining in northeastern Ohio. Gavi's Restaurant is located in historic downtown Willoughby in Lake County. Built in 1896 as a power plant, it used to generate electricity for the electric street cars that linked Painesville and Willoughby with Cleveland in the early 1900's. The charm of the original structure was carefully maintained during restoration and is now the main dining area. An addition was added for the bar and open kitchen where you can stop and see the chef preparing his masterpieces, and also view the vast selection of antipasto and homemade desserts. With impeccable attention to detail, Dave and Mary have created an atmosphere that blends old world authenticity with the comfort of modern times. The menu is "Peasant style old world Italian food" of which they have added their own "twist". There are daily specials including fresh fish, aged steaks and pasta delights. . To enhance your dining experience, 18 of the Gavi wines are imported, along with other Italian, French and California wines. Gavi's wine list.
